Integrating and Documenting Sources
Chapter 7 of BBG is all about sources and how to use them in writing in ways that most effectively get the meaning across while also giving credit where needed. Since the chapter broke down each way to cite, I now have a better understanding of how to choose the way that it best for various situations. In the past I would simply quote every time that I referred to another text and only used parenthetical citations along with a work cited page. I was never taught the significance that can come with quoting, such as preserving the tone or overall meaning; I pretty much picked a quote and hoped for the best. Additionally, I have never hand typed a bibliography or work cited page. Instead, I relied on the handy dandy website easybib.com. After the presentation in the library I understand that sites such as easybib are not 100% accurate and need to be checked. Thankfully I will be able to effectively check my work cited now with the help of BBG. The saying “the more you know, the more you know you don’t know,” has never been more true for me than in this class.
P.s. how did I do with that quote?
